From Hobby To Heritage
Pops’ Custom Workshop began long before it had a name. I grew up in Middle Tennessee on Old Hickory Lake, spending nearly every day hunting, fishing. As a kid, I also started making turkey and other game calls — that’s where my love for crafting gear first began.
Over the years, I’ve lived all over Tennessee, exploring its woods, lakes, and rivers, hunting and fishing wherever I could. Some of my favorite memories are the quiet mornings and evenings spent outdoors with my late father, just enjoying the time together. My love for the outdoors led me to a career in forestry, where I assist the public with land management and respond to wildland fires. It’s hands-on, practical work that keeps me focused and detail-oriented — the same care I bring to every lure, call, and custom piece I create in the workshop.
My passion for creating gear grew from those early game calls to handcrafted fishing lures, engraved items, and custom creations. I love taking an idea and turning it into something tangible — something someone can hold, use, and take pride in. Every piece reflects my connection to the outdoors and to the people who enjoy it.
The name “Pops’” comes from my grandkids — a reminder that family is what matters most. My wife and I love enjoying life with them, and sharing moments with friends, and that joy and togetherness is at the heart of everything I make in the workshop.
My goal is simple: craft products that people trust, enjoy using, and are proud to own. Whether it’s a lure tied for local waters, a call built for the field, or a custom engraved piece meant to last for generations, each item reflects the same passion that started in the woods and on the waters of Tennessee decades ago.
